Bio

Charles Hazouri has never met a stranger. His friends call him Charlie, which means that everyone calls him Charlie except for his wife on occasions, but that’s another story. As a native North Floridian, Charlie has spent a life in the Marine Industry, in excess of 30 years, serving as a Mate, Licensed Captain (USCG 1600 Ton Master), Project Manager, Yacht Compliance Officer, Certified Marine Surveyor (NAMS-CMS), Certified Marine Investigator (IAMI-CMI), USCG Civilian Domestic Vessel Inspector, TVIB Sub-Chapter-M Surveyor, ISO Lead Auditor, and Certified Levels I, II, and III Infrared Thermographer with the Master of Thermography Designation.

He captained vessel’s ranging in sizes from 60-140 foot with tenders in tow, traveling well over 75,000 nautical miles while providing first-rate service to some of America’s most interesting rich and famous. He has sailed up and down the American East Coast, throughout the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Mexico, through the Panama Canal to the American West Coast, and across the Atlantic to sail throughout the Mediterranean.

Charlie has a passion for thermal imaging, non-destructive testing, and marine inspections/investigations and is always on the lookout for new technologies that will improve the effectiveness of marine inspections. He is also an author and has been publishing in Professional Boat Builder’s Magazine and wrote the Lloyd’s Register Guidelines: Thermal Infrared (IR) Thermography Inspections on Vessels Constructed of Composite Materials.

Since 2019, he has been an active member of the Board of Directors for IAMI (International Association of Marine Investigators). Recently, he was elected as the Second Vice President for IAMI and Vice President of NAMS (National Association of Marine Surveyors).

Charlie, through his company Offshore Marine Inspections, travels extensively for his profession and currently resides in an old spice factory in the historic Marigny district of New Orleans, Louisiana, with his lovely wife and a very temperamental cat.
